This calander I "discovered" while reading "The Good Book". I named it the Sliding Sabbath Calendar (SSH) as during the course of a solar year each day "receives a Sabbath rest".
What has been a long time curiosity for me is that people arrange their times so differently around the world. For instance China has only ONE time zone. Add to these current calendars their various histories of timing and it became a quest for me to see if there was any possibility we could all be on this planet at the same TIME.
As noted elsewhere on makeNOimage at the time of this website launch (nearly equinox 2026) we are in a war between FOUR calendars:
Gregorian Calendar: The international standard for civil and business use. It is a solar calendar established by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582.
Hillel II (Hebrew/Jewish) Calendar: A lunisolar calendar used for Jewish religious observances. It was standardized by Hillel II in the 4th century and uses a 19-year cycle to align lunar months with the solar year.
Islamic (Hijri) Calendar: A strictly lunar calendar used to determine Islamic holidays like Ramadan and Hajj. Because it has no leap months, its dates "drift" through the seasons over a 33-year cycle.
Iranian (Solar Hijri) Calendar: Used officially in Iran and Afghanistan, it is considered one of the most accurate solar calendars in existence. While it shares an epoch with the Islamic calendar (the Hijrah in 622 CE), it tracks solar years rather than lunar months.
I found it more relevant than ever to pursue this "calendar thingy" further and found that indeed
time TELLS times.
